Project Overview

This project is a custom drinking water storage solution for a commercial apartment property. The client needed a reliable potable water tank installed on the rooftop of the caretaker’s building, to support daily water supply for the entire apartment complex.

The client provided a usable rooftop area of 4.5m × 9m, with a clear requirement of 15,000 litres usable capacity and food-grade 304 stainless steel material. They also required sufficient service space around the tank, and confirmed the rooftop structure had adequate load-bearing capacity. 1. Site-adapted Footprint Design

We adopted a 3.5m × 8.0m footprint that fits perfectly within the 4.5m × 9m rooftop area, reserving enough clearance on all sides for routine inspection, maintenance and pipeline connection. The low-profile height of 0.7m also reduces wind load on the rooftop and matches the building’s facade requirements.

2. Precise Volume & Water Level Control

To eliminate ambiguity in capacity definition, we clearly distinguished usable working capacity from geometric full volume.

• The 540mm working water depth delivers exactly 15,000L usable storage as requested.
• The 160mm freeboard above the maximum water level prevents overflow during water filling and stabilizes daily operation.
• This design ensures the client gets the exact usable volume they need, rather than a misleading full-tank geometric figure.

3. Rooftop-optimized Structural Design

• The 3.0mm thick bottom plate distributes weight evenly across the rooftop foundation, reducing concentrated load.
• Internal reinforcing ribs are added inside the tank to ensure structural rigidity under long-term water pressure, suitable for continuous outdoor rooftop installation.
• Fully welded construction eliminates leakage risks and extends service life.

4. Food-grade Safety for Potable Water

All plates and welding consumables comply with food-grade stainless steel standards, suitable for drinking water storage. The smooth internal surface is easy to clean and inhibits scale buildup, meeting hygiene requirements for residential water supply.
